Teahouse

Written during 1956 and 1957 by the renowned playwright Lao She, Teahouse is set in Beijing’s Yutai Teahouse, where various characters from society are cleverly depicted. In the chaotic yet inspiring history of China spanning more than a century, embracing the late Qing Dynasty, the Warlord period and the victory in the Sino-Japanese War, a parade of personalities and a rapidly changing society are put under the unforgiving theatrical microscope.
