A.R. asked:
How would you compare Macao to Atlantic City, or Las Vegas here in the USA? I heard that Macao is a huge gambling city with a lot of casinos. Is that a big attraction where many people go, or just a so-so place?
Also, would it be possible to take some sort of ferry from Hong Kong and make a day-long trip out of it?
Opinions are very welcome =)

Macau is NOTHING like Las Vegas. I was very disappointed. No shows, no spectacular lights, and no poker! The only nice casinos that I visited was Wynn & Sands. Many people from HK & China do go there because it’s the only legal gambling city around. Although, there are other attractions there the Fishermens Wharf, heritage museums or Macau Tower where you can climb up,bungee cord jump or skywalk if that’s your thing! And don’t expect the beauty & excitement like you would find at ‘The Strip’!
Yes, you can take the Macau Ferry from Sheung Wan (HK Island). 1 or 2 days max is all you’ll need.
If you’re interested in old cities with lots of gambling stations, Macau is the right place for you.
Casino is everywhere, as Macau is a very small place, I think Casino’s have taken alsmost half of their land, there’s a particular casino that is quite famous, owned by Jackie Chan, where there are 88 pcs. of 999k gold bars installed in the main entrace floor, it’s called grand emperor I think…
There’s a lot of places(besides casino) to visit there, the mercy goddess that’s facing Macau (it’s near the pier) an old church, a tower (where you can do sort of sky dive thing) and lots more. Buy eggtarts… it’s really delicious
Ferry are available every 30 minutes starting 8:30 am from HK to Macau, it takes around an hour of travel to arrived there, a day is enough for sightseeing and a bit of gambling.
Enjoy!
