Rodolfo Avila had an unlucky season start at Oulton Park in the British F3 Championship Round 1. The Macanese motor racing rising star had been pushed out twice on the Eater’s Monday races.

Saturday’s qualifying sessions saw Avila showing an acceptable pace after a disastrous pre-season. The #11 Dallara F307-Mugen Honda conquered the 13th and 16th positions in the 31 cars’ grid for Race 1 & 2.

In the Race 1 Avila did a fine start but Brazilian driver Mario Moraes would damage Macanese car with a creepy manoeuvre on the first lap. “It was sad as I found a good spot in the start and I was going to overtake Moraes but when he saw me in the mirrors he just pushed me into the wall damaging my front suspension. Unfortunately it was impossible for me to keep on the track”, said the driver sponsored by Macau Government, Macau-slot.com, BNU, CESLAsia, PAL AsiaConsult, TsingTao, Fat Siu Lau Restaurant, Sujika Crafts e PT Asia.

Avila had big hopes for the Race 2 but the luck wasn’t there again. The race had two starts because three drivers had a coming together out of sight on the back of the circuit causing red flags. As the field went around the circuit to Druids the red flags flew again as seven cars got involved in another incident which saw Avila out of the race. “Valerio wanted to win the race in the first lap with two wheels in the mud”, explained Avila. “In Druids he lost the control of his car and he entered in the track like crazy crashing into me. My car spun and Sergio Perez couldn’t avoid and collided into my front. Seven cars retired there just because a stupid move”.

British F3 Championship pack will travel to Donington Park in Leicestershire for rounds 3 and 4 on the 21st/22nd April where Rodolfo Avila was the first Asian driver to conquer a “Pole-Position” in National Class.
