Macau Fully Booked For Chinese New Year!



If you don’t have a hotel booking as yet, you maybe in for a nasty surprise as the majority of the hotels have been fully booked out!

Practically half of all the Chinese that plan to travel outside the mainland during the Lunar New Year will go to Macau, the Tribuna de Macau newspaper reported Thursday, citing a survey by consulting company ACNielsen.

According to the paper, of the Chinese that have booked a trip outside the mainland, 74 percent said they planned to go to Hong Kong, with Macau chosen by 43 percent, almost double the amount travelling to the third most popular destination, Singapore.

Indicating that there were travelers who planned to visit more than one place, the survey cited by the paper said that the following destinations were South Korea, with 19 percent, Taiwan, 17 percent, Japan, 16 percent, Thailand, 15 percent, and Malaysia, 14 percent.

As well as an increase in the number of Chinese citizens spending vacation time outside the country, the survey noted a trend for self-organized trips, with 50 percent of the people surveyed saying they had not used a travel agency to plan their trip.
