The Gazette of the Macau Special Administrative Region carried a despatch of the Chief Executive, in which monuments within the “Historic Centre of Macau”, other monuments, monuments with architectural values, sets of monuments and locations are included within the protected zone.
Demolition of the listed monuments within the zone are prohibited, and that any further furbishment works, which require approval from the Cultural Affairs Bureau beforehand, must not hamper the original charcaters and features of the monuments.
Fines and potential criminal responsibilities will also be incurred to offenders, according the legislation which was drafted by the former Governor during the Portuguese adminsitration in 1992.
