June 14, 2006 – blogmacau.info -The British Consul-General in Hong Kong and Macau Stephen Bradley, said that the British community continues to grow in Macau and "play an important role in Macau's astounding economic success".

Bradley made this remark in reviewing UK-Macau relations in celebration of the official birthday of the Queen, when a reception will be held today at the Fisherman's Wharf.

He continued as saying that the British Residency Association of Macao was recently organised to bring people together, to share useful information for living and working in Macao and to meet staff from the Consulate-General.

He also pointed out that the British community has in many ways mirrored Macao’s own vibrancy and growth. He promised the British Consul-General in Hong Kong will provide reliable services to British nationals in Macau.

The British Business Association of Macao was recently registered and held its First Annual General Assembly on 8 May, he recalled.  The association brings together business representatives from Britain and Macau to further develop trade and investment links with the UK.

"Macao and the UK’s economic strengths complement one another across a range of different sectors.  The foundations for trade and investment opportunities between Macao and the UK have already proven extremely beneficial and we recognise the tremendous potential for future growth. The British Consulate-General and UK Trade & Investment will continue to give our full and active support through a range of different projects and programmes in Macao." He concluded.
